Born in Fukushima, Japan, Reina Fuchigami trained at the Hitomi Takeuchi Ballet School and the Royal Ballet School. As a student she danced with Birmingham Royal Ballet in Cinderella, The Sleeping Beauty, Daphnis and Chloë, The Dream and The Nutcracker. She won first prize at the 20th All Japan Ballet competition and Japan Grand Prix, 2009. She joined Birmingham Royal Ballet in 2012 and was promoted to First Artist in 2016.
