Tom Ellis makes his Birmingham Royal Ballet debut as a Guest Guitarist for Goyo Montero's Chacona, part of the Curated by Carlos season.

Tom began playing the guitar at the age of five and was the first guitarist to study at the Yehudi Menuhin School, where he studied with Richard Wright. Tom first performed at the Wigmore Hall at the age of 15 and has gone on to appear at prestigious venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Cadogan Hall, Purcell Room, Berlin Philharmonie and in solo tours of Italy and Japan.

Since performing the principal guitar part for John Adams' El Niño in the London Symphony Orchestra conducted by the composer in London (Barbican) and Paris (Philharmonie), Tom appears regularly with the London orchestras. Other notable appearances include performances as classical guitar soloist in Stravinsky's 'Tango for the LPO at the Royal Festival Hall and as the soloist in René Aubry's The Gruffalo' with Britten Sinfonia and Opera North in various venues. Tom appeared in three separate BBC Proms concerts at the Royal Albert Hall in the summer of 2019, twice with the BBCSO and once with the Monteverdi Choir & Orchestra. His work accompanying ballet includes Don Quixote with the Royal Ballet (Japan tour), Ghost Dances with Rambert (UK Tour) and Romeo & Juliet with Matthew Bourne's New Adventures (UK Tour).

Recording credits include an appearance on the London Conchord Ensemble's acclaimed CD of Poulenc's entire chamber works ('A constant joy' - Gramophone) for Champs Hill Records and the first recording of Steve Goss' 'Frozen Music' for guitar and string trio for the Cadenza label. Tom's independently released arrangement of Schumann's Märchenbilder performed by him with the violist Elliott Perks, can be accessed through online streaming outlets.
