Verena Hemmerlein made her Birmingham Royal Ballet debut as Costume Designer for Goyo Montero's Chacona, part of the 2021 Curated by Carlos season.

Verena Hemmerlein was born in Munich and studied fine arts with a focus on stage and costume design at the Düsseldorf Art Academy. She has designed stage and costumes for numerous ballets by Goyo Montero at the State Theatre in Nuremberg and Teatro Real in Madrid, and for opera, drama, operetta, musical and dance theatre. She is a lecturer for the Master’s programme Stage Design and Scenic Space at the TU Berlin.
