Carlos Acosta went on stage in Tokyo today to make a very special surprise announcement.

After the matinee performance of The Sleeping Beauty, starring Yu Kurihara as Aurora and Lachlan Monaghan as Florimund, Carlos announced to the audience, the Company and Yu herself that she will be promoted to Principal from the start of the 2025/26 season.

Rounds of applause from the auditorium, the stage and the wings showed everyone's delight that Yu was able to celebrate this event in front of family and friends in Japan.
