We are saddened to hear of the passing of former First Soloist Susan Lucas.
Susan enjoyed a distinguished career with the Company, joining Sadler's Wells Royal Ballet and then moving with the Company to Birmingham in 1990. During her 21 years with BRB, she performed many principal roles, including the Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker, Aurora in The Sleeping Beauty, the title role in Giselle, Swanilda in Coppélia and Titania in The Dream. She also created roles in works by Sir Kenneth MacMillan, Sir Peter Wright, David Bintley and Michael Corder.

Following her retirement from the stage, Susan dedicated herself to teaching and coaching the next generation of dancers, earning widespread respect for her warmth, knowledge and generosity. Her contribution to ballet, both on stage and in the studio, leaves a lasting legacy.
