Andrea Riolo
Born: Malta
Trained: The Royal Ballet School
Awards: In my graduate year at The Royal Ballet School I received the Artistic prize for Progress and Endeavour. I was also a dissertation prize winner and received the Captain Moore and Mrs John Moore Award for Excellence in Science Related to Dance.
Favourite ballet in BRB’s current repertory: La Fille mal gardée. The joy and playfulness in the music is infectious and instantly brightens up one's mood. Sir Fredrick Ashton's choreography provides a perfect marriage with the music, making it a very enjoyable ballet not only to dance but to watch too.
First ballet watched: The Nutcracker at The Royal Ballet and Opera when I was ten. From then on I knew I wanted to study at The Royal Ballet School and later on pursue a career as a professional ballet dancer.
