Hans is a composer, conductor, and orchestrator. He re-orchestrated Ludwig Minkus's score for Carlos Acosta's version of Don Quixote in 2022 for Birmingham Royal Ballet.

Hans studied composition with Wim Henderickx and attained his master’s degree magna cum laude at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp and completed an Artist Diploma in composition at London’s Royal College of Music. He was an RCM Award Holder supported by a Musicians’ Company Lambert Studentship. His primary focus is writing music for theatre and drama; together with his partner Lente Verelst, he founded the production company Story Tree, specialising in new music theatre shows. In 2026 their newest chamber opera Somer&Winter, commissioned by Opera Ballet Flanders, will have its world premiere, accompanied by the contemporary Spectra Ensemble under Hans’s own direction. As an orchestrator, he concentrates on opera and ballet, and commissions have included The Royal Swedish Ballet, Opera/Ballet Flanders and The Royal Ballet.
