About The Nutcracker

Join Clara in the Victorian setting of her family home. As midnight strikes, the magical Christmas tree grows and grows, Clara’s nutcracker doll and his army of toy soldiers come to life, and Clara is swept away into a fantasy adventure through an enchanting winter wonderland of dancing snowflakes to the magical kingdom of the Sugar Plum Fairy.

The spectacular staging was created especially for the Royal Albert Hall with Simon Callow as the voice of Clara’s mysterious godfather, Drosselmeyer. Video and projection by Tony-Award-winning 59 Productions (An American in Paris, War Horse) and gorgeous period costumes conjure up a spellbinding fantasy world, in which Birmingham Royal Ballet’s superb dancers and the Royal Ballet Sinfonia weave their magic.
