Meet the SinfoniaBallets and theatre
Performing for ballet and in theatres is our passion, for Birmingham Royal Ballet or as a guest with other international companies in the UK.
The Sinfonia perform regularly at the Royal Opera House with the Royal Ballet, Royal Ballet School and for guest productions such as Carlos Acosta’s Myths and Modern Masters and the National Ballet of Japan’s debut performance in the UK, with their acclaimed production of Giselle.
In addition to performing in Covent Garden, the Sinfonia are the UK’s most in-demand orchestra to perform with visiting international ballet companies. In summer 2026 the Sinfonia will be performing for State Ballet of Georgia’s Swan Lake at the London Coliseum and San Francisco Ballet’s immersive contemporary ballet, Mere Mortals, at Sadler’s Wells. Other recent guest appearances include Australian Ballet, National Ballet of Canada, Dutch National Ballet and Queensland Ballet.
The Sinfonia enjoy collaborating with a variety of other artists and festivals, such as the Legend and Legacy Gala in both Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, and Dubai Opera, as well as working with the Pet Shop Boys on their ballet The Most Incredible Thing and Opera North’s production of Carousel.
The Sinfonia have been extremely lucky to work with the best ballet conductors in the industry, from our own Music Director, Paul Murphy, to Barry Wordsworth, David Briskin, Martin West and with a particular highlight of a very successful working relationship with Royal Ballet Music Director, Koen Kessels.
