News Story
On the evening of 26 September, BRB's performance of Black Sabbath – The Ballet will be preceded by a curtain-raiser performance of Luminous, Freefall Dance Company's first-ever work to be performed on the Birmingham Hippodrome main stage.
Freefall was formed in 2002 after its director, Lee Fisher, was inspired by the unique movements of students he met at Fox Hollies - a school for young people with learning disabilities. The company launched with a mission to provide opportunities for these young people to continue dancing after completing their education, with the guiding principle that dance is for everyone.
Luminous was choreographed by the members of Freefall Dance Company working with Lee in their weekly rehearsals. It is danced to a specially commissioned score composed by Richard Syner and performed by him alongside Matt Isaac, Justin Quinn, Marcus Pritchard, Matt Senior and Royal Ballet Sinfonia Principal Percussionist Kevin Earley.
If you're coming to see Black Sabbath – The Ballet on Friday 26 September, you're in for a treat with this inspiring high-energy curtain raiser. Our Freefall dancers can't wait to share it with you!
