News Story
Today we celebrate Sir Peter Wright's 99th birthday!
Sir Peter served as the Company's Director between 1977 and 1995 and is honoured as our Founding Director Laureate. During his tenure, he led the Company's move to Birmingham, from its previous home at Sadler's Wells in London, to become Birmingham Royal Ballet.
His visionary direction shaped the Company's identity, and he created beloved productions of the classical ballets that continue to define our repertoire today, including Swan Lake, The Nutcracker, The Sleeping Beauty and Coppélia (see below).
We are deeply grateful for Sir Peter's extraordinary contribution and wish him the happiest of birthdays as he enters his 100th year.
Whenever we talk about BRB, we have to talk about Sir Peter Wright.Carlos Acosta, Director
